Laser racing at Felixstowe Ferry takes place on Wednesday evenings and there is a monthly series of mini regattas held on Saturday afternoons. All the times and dates are set out in the Racing Programme. Wednesday evening racing runs from April until September starting and finishing on the club line with a course at sea whenever possible. Saturday racing consists of a series of 3 – 4 short races, the first and last starting and finishing on the club line; the remainder being committee boat starts at sea.
The Lasers are a friendly and expanding fleet with an existing enthusiastic core of keen Laser sailors. The club has recently attracted new boats and good competition to the fleet. It is keen to attract more Lasers to join in the racing at the only club in the area to offer both sea and estuary sailing within the same race.
The club has two Lasers for those who want to “try before they buy” or for members to sail and race on an occasional basis.
The Laser is an exciting and enjoyable dinghy to sail with a range of sail sizes for both light and heavy weights of all ages, with the added convenience of not having to organise a crew! Add to that the sea and estuary sailing at the Ferry and you have a superb sailing experience.
